Netflix has released two new photos of Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary from Iron Fist season 2. The streaming service recently released the full-length trailer for the upcoming sophomore season of the Marvel series. While they made a pretty big splash at San Diego Comic-Con by announcing Eve would be portraying Typhoid Mary, she didn't actually appear in the trailer. That left many wondering if they were going to make us wait until the season drops to catch a glimpse at the villain. Not quite, as they've released two new photos showcasing Eve's character.
If you're not familiar with Typhoid Mary, who is actually more commonly portrayed as a Daredevil villain in the world of Marvel Comics, she's a character with several different personalities. When she's just herself, there's no reason to think there's anything dangerous about her. But when she becomes Typhoid Mary, it's a totally different story. Netflix is playing that up with these latest photos, as one shows Alice Eve as normal Mary, looking calm and collected. The next photo shows her looking much more serious and ready to do some damage. The caption they provided with the post also plays up the dynamic at play.
"You never really know someone until you see both sides. #IronFist"
In the pages of Marvel Comics, Mary Walker has a very tragic backstory that involves her growing up in an abusive home. Mary suffers from a mental illness that results in her having several different personalities. She doesn't like violence and actively avoids it. However, when Typhoid Mary takes over, it's quite the opposite. Typhoid Mary is portrayed as a skilled assassin who has superior sword skills. She also has telekinetic and pyrokinetic abilities. It sounds very much like Danny Rand is going to have his hands full in season 2.
Finn Jones returns as Danny Rand after a season with the Defenders and a memorable episode of Luke Cage season 2. The first season of Iron First proved to be a major disappointment. But Netflix understood that and it appears as though they've made a lot of changes to address that in season 2. This is a character with a tremendous amount of potential. And if superhero stuff is about anything, it's quite often about second chances. Danny may be looking at something of a redemption here.
Raven Metzner replaced Scott Buck as the showrunner for season 2, which should help provide a new feel. The cast for the show's upcoming second season also includes Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum and Sacha Dhawan as Davos. Iron Fist season 2 is set to arrive on Netflix on September 7. Be sure to check out the new photos of Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary from the Iron Fist Instagram page for yourself below.
