Earlier this morning, it was heavily rumored that Marvel and Netflix had cast Game of Thrones star Finn Jones as Danny Rand in their fourth series Iron Fist. EW has now confirmed that the actor is taking on the coveted role. He will play a martial arts master who mixed it up with the other superheroes who reside in Hell's Kitchen, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

Finn Jones is perhaps best known for playing Ser Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones. Iron Fist doesn't have a premiere date yet, and it's unclear wether it will debut this winter, following the summer launch of Luke Cage, or if it will begin streaming in early 2017. Former Dexter show runner Scott Buck will be leading the Iron Fist creative team.

Daniel Rand first appeared in Marvel Premiere #15 way back in May 1974. At age 9, he travels with his family to a lost mystical city called K'un-L'un. Rand experiences a tragic twist of fate, and is adopted by the city's ruler. He is soon taught advanced martial arts and the mystical power of the Iron Fist. Rand returns to his native New York City as an adult, and it is here that he begin a career as a superhero, residing in Hell's Kitchen.

Many wanted Marvel and Netflix to cast an Asian actor in the role of Danny Rand. But there were others who strongly opposed this move. Some believed casting Rand as an Asian was stereotypical, just because of his martial arts background. Ryan Phillippe has long been rumored for the role, but obviously that did not pan out. Though, the two actors do have a very similar look. The Hashtag Show was the first to break the Finn Jones news. They noticed the actor had stopped tweeting in January, and pointed to this as proof that he'd joined the small screen MCU.

Scott Buck (Dexter) signed on to serve as showrunner and executive producer back in December, and it's believed that Marvel's Jessica Jones writer Scott Reynolds has joined the writing staff as well. The studio is also casting other roles such as Dylan Kendall, who could be either Danny Rand or a younger version of his father, and Harry Marshall, a Caucasian male between the ages of 45 and 50. There have also been rumors that Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise her role as Jeryn Hogarth from Marvel's Jessica Jones.

Finn Jones is best known for portraying Loras Tyrell on HBO's Game of Thrones, and will return for its sixth season on Sunday, April 24. He has also starred in movies such as 2014's Sleeping Beauty and Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, along with guest starring spots on shows such as Hollyoaks and Life in Squares. Do you think he's the right choice to play Marvel's Iron Fist?
