Netflix's upcoming animated film continuation of the cult classic TV series Invader Zim has been teased for what seems like forever now. But today we've finally learned just when we'll be able to stream the movie. Yes, today we have word that Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus will be landing on the streaming giant on August 16th. The announcement comes to us from Netflix over on Twitter who write this.

"You asked for it, so we're delivering a fresh order of doom right to your doorstep. Zim is back."

This new Netflix movie is, of course, a sequel to the hit animated series which originally ran 27 episodes over two seasons on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2002. Since its cancellation, the cult classic animated series has spawned video games, comic books, and more including its very own fan convention known as InvaderCON. The show even won an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation at the 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards back in 2001.

As far as the plot of Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! goes, the animated movie picks up when Zim suddenly reappears to begin Phase 2 of his evil alien plan to conquer Earth. However, he loses confidence in himself for the first time in his life when he discovers his almighty leaders never had any intention of coming to Earth. This loss of confidence turns out to be the big break his longtime human nemesis, Dib has been waiting for, and he sets out to unmask Zim once and for all.

Richard Steven Horvitz returns to voice Zim along with Rosearik Rikki Simons as GIR, Andy Berman as Dib Membrane, Melissa Fahn as Gaz Membrane, Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Wally Wingert as Almighty Tallest Red, Kevin McDonald as Almighty Tallest Purple, Jhonen Vasquez as Zim's Computer, Olivia d'Abo as Tak, and Paul Greenberg as Poonchy.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! is directed by Jhonen Vasquez and Jake Wyatt from a screenplay Vasquez co-wrote along with Breehn Burns and Gary Wilson based on the classic animated series Vasquez created. Kevin Manthei composes the film's score while Jonathan Sims served as the movie's editor. Vasquez serves as the film's executive producer while Joann Estoesta produces. Nickelodeon Animation Studio is behind the movie, which will be hitting Netflix on August 16th, 2019.

This news, of course, comes on the heels of another classic Nickelodeon series getting a Netflix revival with the Rocko's Modern Life movie Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling all set to land on the streaming giant next month as well. That movie is said to center on Rocko and friends returning to O-Town in modern-day after being in space for 25 years. Carlos Alazraqui will return to voice Rocko and Spunky along with Tom Kenny as Heffer Wolfe, Mr. Lawrence as Filburt, and Charlie Adler as Ed & Bev Bighead. Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling will be hitting Netflix on August 9, 2019. Meanwhile, this Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! update comes to us from Netflix over on Twitter .
