Netflix has now released the first trailer for their upcoming series I Am Not Okay With This which reunites It co-stars Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff for this coming-of-age drama with superpowers. The series follows Sydney, a seemingly normal 15-year-old freshman. She hangs out underneath the bleachers, listens to music in her friend's car, and gets into arguments with her annoying little brother-but she also has a few secrets she's only shared in her diary. Like how she's in love with her best friend Dina, the bizarreness of her father's death, and those painful telekinetic powers that keep popping up at the most inopportune times.

The story looks to be blending themes from across a variety of both big and small screen projects including the likes of Carrie, Twin Peaks and, of course, Netflix's astronomical hit series Stranger Things. In fact, I Am Not Okay With This is being produced by some of the people behind Stranger Things, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen, and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment, and comes from director Jonathan Entwistle as well as co-creator, writer, and executive producer Christy Hall.

The Netflix series will be based on the 2017 graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman. This will be the second time that Entwistle has adapted Forsman's work having directed the popular comedy-drama The End of the F***ing World which finished last year. Entwistle will be directing all either episodes of I Am Not Okay With This, so expect a singular, consistent vision. From the trailer, this looks to be a pretty faithful adaptation of the source material.

Andy Muschietti's adaptation of It back in 2017 featured one of the best young ensemble casts in a long time, with Sophia Lillis' assured, mature performance definitely a stand-out. Lillis crafted a very complex character in Beverly Marsh, her performance was both powerful and moving and demonstrated a talent that is well beyond the young actresses years. Having her at the center of a Stranger Things-esque Netflix series will no doubt prove to be very enticing for viewers looking for more of the 80s-inspired, Stephen King-type stories. With the addition of fellow It star Wyatt Oleff, I Am Not Okay With This is surely all set to be very popular indeed.

Starring alongside the former inhabitants of Derry, Maine are Kathleen Rose Perkins as Maggie, Aidan Wojtak-Hissongas Liam, and Richard Ellis as Brad Lewis.

So far, I Am Not Okay With This looks like it has everything you could want in a Netflix series. From the quirky, comedy-drama tone, to the high school setting, along with the addition of superpowers and a central mystery, this is sure to pull in a lot of viewers who are looking for their fix in anticipation of the fourth season of Stranger Things.

I Am Not Okay With This is set to premiere on Netflix on February 26. Thus far, you should be very okay with this. This comes to us from Netflix.
