Hunters is coming back for more. Amazon Studios has announced that the series has officially been given a season 2 order. The show debuted earlier this year and quickly became one of the company's most popular original series. As such, it was heavily expected that the Jordan Peele-produced period drama would be back for round two, but now it has been made official.

There is no word at this time in regards to when production will begin. It also has been revealed which cast members will be returning come time for Hunters season 2, though it seems likely that at least some of the ensemble will come back for the sophomore run. The news was confirmed by the show's official Twitter account. A turntable is playing a record titled "Hunters Season 1" before the disc is swapped out for "Hunters Season 2." Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads then begins to play. Series reactor David Weil had this to say.

"I am beyond grateful to Jen and the Amazon family for their continued extraordinary support of Hunters. Alongside our magnificent cast, incredible crew, and brilliant writers and producers, I am more eager than ever to share the next chapter of the Hunters saga with the world."

Hunters centers on a diverse group of Nazi hunters living in New York City in the 1970s. The Hunters, as they're known, have found out that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them, conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The team sets out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new plans. Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, had this to say in a statement.

"With Hunters, David Weil's bold vision and fearless imagination powered a thrilling, twisty, action-packed first season that engaged Prime Video customers around the world. We are thrilled that David, Jordan and the Hunters will be back with us for more."

The series stars Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker and Lena Olin. Jordan Peele, who is known as the director of Get Out and Us, produced the series through his own Peele's Monkeypaw Productions company. Sonar Entertainment is also behind the show. David Weil, in addition to his duties as creator, serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Nikki Toscano, who is also an executive producer. Win Rosenfeld, Nelson McCormick and Tom Lesinski are also on board as executive producers.

Even though Hunters drew large viewership numbers for Amazon, the response to season 1, which premiered in February, was a bit mixed. Currently, it holds a 64 percent critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, to go along with a 67 percent audience rating. As for Jordan Peele, this cements him as an in-demand TV producer, as he is also behind CBS All Access' The Twilight Zone as well as the upcoming Lovecraft Country for HBO.
