It was announced over the weekend that Netflix has severed ties with Kevin Spacey, which has brought up a lot of speculation about what will happen to Spacey's Frank Underwood character on House of Cards. Many believe that the writers are going to kill off his character, but a group of people have decided that Frank Underwood should live and have Paul Blart: Mall Cop star Kevin James take over the role. As of this writing, the petition already has over 19,000 signatures.

A petition directed towards Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has started to gain some major attention. Complete with a surprised photo of Kevin James, the petition calls for Netflix to replace Kevin Spacey with James. This casting swap, the petition's creator Robbie Pyma argues, will elevate House of Cards to Game of Thrones-style popularity. Why Kevin James as a replacement? As one comment puts it, "Kevin James is a national treasure. Kevin Spacey is a rapist. Both are named Kevin. Seems like a smart business decision to me." It should be noted that Kevin Spacey has been accused and these are allegations at this time, so though his behavior is terrible, he has not been proven to be a rapist. Also, the jury is out on whether Kevin James is a national treasure or not.

Kevin James has reunited with his King of Queens costar, Leah Remini, for the second season of his CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait. He does, however, have a relationship with Netflix, who will be debuting his stand-up special that's to be taped later this year and will debut on the streaming service in 2018. So maybe Kevin James as Frank Underwood isn't so far-fetched after all. We could really get some insight into James' dramatic work or he could lighten the mood of the political Netflix drama.

The petition comes after multiple sexual misconduct accusations against Kevin Spacey have come to light. The accusations started with Star Trek: Discovery's Anthony Rapp coming forward and sharing his experience from when Spacey tried to have inappropriate sexual relations with the actor when he was 14-years old. Numerous men have come out and shared similar stories about the actor, highlighting that he likes younger men and turned the behind-the-scenes environment of House of Cards toxic with his alleged constant lewd behavior.

In addition to Netflix completely severing ties with Kevin Spacey, the actor was also dropped by his publicist and his agent, CAA. On Thursday, Spacey's publicist released a statement that the star was seeking unspecified "evaluation and treatment." News also broke earlier this week that Spacey's All the Money in the World had been dropped by the AFI Fest, but the movie is still expected to open to theaters in late December. It will be interesting to see if anybody goes to see it. Regardless, the petition to replace Kevin Spacey with Kevin James on House of Cards is about 5,000 signatures short of its initial 25,000 signature goal. Head over to Change.org and sign if you feel like James would make a better Frank Underwood.
