Travel Channel has announced a new series titled Hotel Paranormal which is set to debut this summer. The show focuses on the stories of those who have allegedly come face-to-face with otherworldly hotel guests. Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd has been tapped to narrate each episode. Through ten hour-long episodes, the show will bring to life terrifying encounters with dramatic re-creations and paranormal expert insights.

The show will focus on a wide range of locations, covering grand hotels, highway motels and inns around the world. Saloon Media is producing the series for the network. Michael Kot and Betty Orr and Sarah Zammit are on board as producers, with Cathy Garland serving as the executive producer. Dan Aykroyd had this to say in a statement.

"As a longtime believer in ghosts, I think the incredible encounters we're highlighting on 'Hotel Paranormal' will open up a lot of minds and hopefully break through some of the skepticism people carry about the paranormal. I'm excited to lend my voice to help bring viewers across the United States, these gripping real-life ghost stories, many of which take place in their own backyards."

Even for those who might be skeptical about this sort of thing, Hotel Paranormal has one heck of a hook. Dan Aykroyd is a beloved actor who is closely associated with ghosts and things of the like, thanks to his work as Ray Stantz in the Ghostubsters movies. Aykroyd is set to reprise the role in next year's Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

The premiere episode centers on a traveling salesman who checks into a motel where he documents poltergeist activity with his cell phone. After fleeing into the night, he becomes possessed by the spirit of a murderer and is in need of an exorcism. Another tale focuses on a teenager and his friends who, on a school trip to the Vatican, accidentally set an ancient evil free and suffer the consequences. Lastly, a third story sees a journalist hunting down a story in Connecticut when she checks into a historic New England inn and fights off a supernatural attack.

This joins a lineup of shows cut from the same cloth on the network, including Ghost Adventures, The Dead Files and Destination Fear. Hotel Paranormal is set to premiere on July 11 on the Travel Channel. Be sure to check out the full season lineup, as well as descriptions for each episode, below.
