CBS announced today a new one-hour special, #HomeVideos: A Global Phenomenon (working title), featuring viral home video moments created while social distancing and sheltering in place, to be broadcast in May on the CBS Television Network.

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, star and executive producer of CBS' hit comedy The Neighborhood, the special will feature the full spectrum of the best videos during our country's collective experience together - from the humorous to the heartwarming to the most inspirational.

With sports, concerts and "date night" outings on indefinite hold, people have taken to amusing themselves through unique, often hilarious, social media posts. Cedric the Entertainer will guide viewers through video moments from our communal quarantine, providing an entertaining and uplifting snapshot of our world at an unprecedented time. For each video selected as part of the show, CBS will give a monetary donation toward a qualifying charity of the participants' choice.

Said Jodi Roth, Senior Vice President, Specials, CBS.

"This special is a true celebration of the human spirit. The ingenuity and creativity displayed in these videos is impressive, while also highlighting our spirit and resilience as a community during this unique moment in time."

Said Robert Horowitz, President, Juma Entertainment.

"There used to be a saying, 'Go big, or go home.' With #HomeVideos: A Global Phenomenon, you no longer have to choose, because this show is an example of what happens when people go home, and THEN go big. With Cedric at the helm, and the creativity spawned by current events, this special is going to be a welcome hour of sit-back-relax-and-smile, whole-family entertainment."

Over the course of a career spanning 30 years, Cedric the Entertainer has solidified his status as one of the world's premier performers. In July 2018, the actor and comedian was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to starring in and executive producing The Neighborhood, Cedric currently appears in the hit TV comedy The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.

Additional television series include The Comedy Get Down, The Soul Man, a comedy Cedric co-created, executive produced and starred in; The Steve Harvey Show, for which Cedric received four consecutive NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy; the sketch comedy series Cedric the Entertainer Presents; Disney's animated The Proud Family, which earned him an NAACP Image Award; and the syndicated game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, In film, Cedric is perhaps best known for his crowd-pleasing performances in the hit Barbershop film franchise, as well as The Original Kings of Comedy, the Spike Lee-directed feature that chronicled the record-breaking Kings of Comedy Tour.
