HBO has released the trailer for His Dark Materials season 2. In addition, the network has also announced that the show will return this November. The visuals are stunning, as we get a hint of the unknown as teased last season. Season 2 series regulars include Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Joining the cast this season are Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby.

Debuting this November, the second season of His Dark Materials begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

His Dark Materials adapts Philip Pullman's award-winning trilogy of the same name, which is considered a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction. The first season followed Lyra, a seemingly ordinary, but brave young woman from another world. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children, and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. As she journeyed through the worlds, including our own, Lyra met Will, a determined and courageous boy. Together, they encountered extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living , and the dead, in their hands.

His Dark Materials has been another hit for HBO. Fans of Phillip Pullman's source material have been satisfied with what the series has been able to pull in terms of staying faithful to the books. It's never easy taking a book that is beloved and trying to bring it to the big or small screen. With that being said, the hype for season 2 has been building ever since the first season came to an end. While HBO has not announced an official release date for November, that news should be coming along in the next few weeks since November is surprisingly just right around the corner.

His Dark Materials is produced by Bad Wolf in association with New Line Cinema for BBC One and HBO. Executive producing the series are Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, Joel Collins and Julie Gardner for Bad Wolf; Philip Pullman, Jack Thorne, Tom Hooper; Deborah Forte, Toby Emmerich and Carolyn Blackwood for New Line Cinema; and Ben Irving and Piers Wenger for the BBC.
