During tonight's Season 4 premiere event for Girls in New York City, HBO's president of programming, Michael Lombardo, announced that the series has already been renewed for Season 5. It isn't known how many Season 5 episodes were ordered at this time, but series creator/star Lena Dunham revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the first two scripts for Season 5 have already been written. Here's what the actress/writer/producer had to say about the first two Season 5 scripts at tonight's premiere.

"No one has seen them, but they exist."

Lena Dunham also revealed that she will get back to work on Season 5 with her fellow executive producer Jennifer Konner starting tomorrow. The series is also executive produced by Judd Apatow, with Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky, Andy Rannells, Christopher Abbott, Becky Ann Baker and Chris O'Dowd rounding out the cast.

Season 4 of Girls will premiere Sunday, January 11 at 9 PM ET on HBO. An early renewal like this is nothing new for Girls, which was given an early Season 4 renewal just days before Season 3 debuted last year. Season 4 begins with Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) heading to the Iowa Writer's Workshop, to escape a complex relationship with her boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver).
