Director Mike Flanagan's modern reimagining of Shirley Jackson's iconic novel, The Haunting of Hill House crept and spooked it's scary-ass onto Netflix last Halloween and has since been described by many (this guy included) to be a modern masterpiece of horror. Renewed for a second season back in February, The Haunting of Hill House Season 2 will be based on Henry James' horror novella, The Turn of the Screw and will be going by the title, The Haunting of Bly Manor. We already know that the new chapter of Flanagan's series will not have a connection to the first season, and will feature a new story with all new characters. But will actors from season one such as Carla Gugino, return for new roles ala Jessica Lange and American Horror Story? While nothing can be confirmed at this time, we can pass along word that Gugino and Oliver Jackson-Cohen are up for returning.

Carla Gugino says this.

"Well, I can't say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honored to. So we're talking a lot about it and we'll just see if all schedules allow. All I can say is I'm very excited for Season 2 and to see what Mike does."

Meanwhile, Jackson-Cohen can't say if he'll come back to play a new character in season 2, but he did say he would "100 percent" come back if Flanagan asks. Specifically, he says this.

"I will get shot if I ever answer that question (laughs). I would love to answer that question. All I can say is that 'Bly Manor' is going to be incredible. It's a very, very exciting story, from what I've heard. I feel like working with Mike and Trevor and all of our crew, the writers, was just so special. And Netflix had been so incredible, Paramount, Amblin, all of the people behind it. It was such a dream. And I think, as well, working with someone like Mike who writes these characters that are so much more - there are so many dimensions to these characters that he writes that I think anyone would love to work with a writer like that. So I would 100 percent love to do it."

Let's hope we hear more soon! Until then, here's a rundown on season one for those not in the know. The Haunting of Hill House season one launched back in October of last year and the 10-episode season centered around the Crain family following the events that transpired during the one summer they lived in the eponymous haunted home and their lives decades after leaving due to a tragic incident.

Along with the above-mentioned Carla Gugino and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, the first season co-starred Timothy Hutton, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Lulu Wilson, Mckenna Grace, Michiel Huisman, Victoria Pedretti, Paxton Singleton, Julian Hilliard, and Violet McGraw. The Haunting of Hill House is now streaming on Netflix. These updates come to us via The Wrap.
