If last week's photos from Guillermo del Toro's The Strain weren't enough for you, then perhaps you'll enjoy this brand new image featuring Mía Maestro as Dr. Nora Martinez. This character is part of the CDC Canary Team lead by Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), who investigate a pathogen that appears to be an ancient strain of vampirism. This latest photo shows a scene taken directly from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's novel. Read on for more details about the series from showrunner Carlton Cuse.

During last night's TCA Winter Tour panel for the upcoming series, slated to debut in July on FX, Carlton Cuse revealed that the show gives viewers a deeper experience than the novels, with new situations the characters find themselves in.

"We've gotten deeper into our characters and we've invented new situations. The books are well represented, but the series is a deeper and richer experience."

He also said that, if FX decides to pick up more episodes of The Strain, he plans on the show running between three and five seasons, while staying true to the source material by not romanticizing these vampires.

"These are not sparkly brooding dudes with fangs and romantic problems. This is a really original re-imagining of vampire lore. There is sex in the show, but the vampires themselves are not having sex. They are not romantic creatures, believe me."
