With the Halloween holiday just around the corner, ABC's hit sitcom The Goldbergs will be paying tribute to the iconic works of Stephen King with the new episode Stefan King, airing Wednesday, October 26 at 8 PM ET. A new trailer has been released, which reveals that this episode will parody the author's iconic story Misery, with a twist. And, as it turns out, Stephen King himself will likely be watching, thanks to Patton Oswalt.

This new episode centers on Adam (Sean Giambrone), whose love of Stephen King inspires him to try his hand at horror writing. After learning the monster in Adam's story is based on Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey), she forces Adam to stay in on Halloween and rewrite it, hoping he depicts her as a better mother. Meanwhile, Erica (Hayley Orrantia) is desperate to find a date to the costume dance and forces Barry (Troy Gentile) go with her. A new trailer on YouTube teases that Beverly has gone from a monster in to a much different character, inspired by Kathy Bates' Annie Wilkes from Misery.

Patton Oswalt, who serves as the show's narrator, reached out to Stephen King on Twitter, telling the iconic horror author that tomorrow night's episode of The Goldbergs, "is about how you influenced nerds like me in the 80s," adding the story is "PAINFULLY accurate." The author responded, stating that he'll watch the episode. Patton Oswalt goes on, adding that there are a number of Easter Eggs, some that he didn't even pick up on. For those who are regular viewers of The Goldbergs, this is just the latest of many episodes to reference a popular movie, TV show, book, or other aspects of 80s pop culture.

During the show's first season, it paid homage to The Goonies, while the second season featured a Ferris Bueller's Day Off tribute, complete with Charlie Sheen reprising his same role from the original movie. In Season 3, the show featured a Dirty Dancing episode, and the sitcom kicked off Season 4 with a tribute to The Breakfast Club. There have also been episodes that honor or reference Star Wars, Say Anything and Back to the Future Part 2. There has also been talk of a possible crossover with Stranger Things, but nothing has been set in stone yet.

In related news, we have word from Entertainment Weekly that The Goldbergs will feature a Curb Your Enthusiasm reunion, with Susie Essman signing on for a guest-starring role. The actress, who is perhaps best known for playing Susie Greene, the loud-mouthed wife of The Goldbergs star Jeff Garlin on Curb Your Enthusiasm, is coming aboard to play Edie Robb, a real-life Hollywood power manager who actually grew up with The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, and was inducted into the Personal Managers Hall of Fame earlier this year. On the show, Susie Essman's Edie Robb will be a talent manager who takes an interest in Adam, as he tries to break into show business. The episode is slated to air sometime in January.
