After airing just two episodes of Season 2, HBO has picked up a third season of the hit comedy series Girls. The network has ordered 12 episodes for Season 3, although it isn't known when production will begin, or when the new season may air. The Season 2 premiere, "It's About Time", was watched by an impressive 3.8 million viewers

Created by and starring Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture), Girls takes a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of four girls in their early 20s. The show recently received two Golden Globes, for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical (Lena Dunham); last September, Girls won an Emmy for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.

The series stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, and Alex Karpovsky. Lena Dunham, Judd Apatow, Jennifer Konner, Ilene S. Landress, Bruce Eric Kaplan serve as executive producers.
