Game of Thrones may have come to a controversial end last year, but series star Sophie Turner can revisit her iconic throne any time she chooses. Starting when she was just 13 years old, Turner played fan favorite character Sansa Stark on the hit HBO series and was one of the few to survive the show's entire run. The character's journey also saw the meek teenager eventually become the Queen in the North after declaring the North to be an independent kingdom at the conclusion of the series.

Now, it appears that Sophie Turner has gotten to take home the Northern throne as revealed by the actress on social media. In an Instagram story, Turner posted an image of the wooden throne Sansa used on Game of Thrones. "Welcome home," the image also reads, suggesting Turner is now the permanent owner of the prop. It may not be quite as large as the Iron Throne that was melted by Drogon in the series finale, but it's certainly much more practical to keep inside the home.

Last year, Turner also used Instagram to post a touching farewell message to the role she played along with her fellow Game of Thrones cast and crew when the series ended. "Sansa, Thank you for teaching me resilience, bravery and what true strength really is," the message read in part. "Thank you [for] teaching me to be kind and patient and to lead with love. I grew up with you. I fell in love with you at 13 and now 10 years on.. at 23 I leave you behind, but I will never leave behind what you've taught me."

Adapted from author George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series, Game of Thrones was developed for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It premiered on HBO in 2011, and it wasn't long before the acclaimed series would become one of the most-watched shows on television. In addition to Turner, the series also starred Maisie Williams, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emilia Clarke, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Peter Dinklage, and many more.

As most of us know, the final season of Game of Thrones was not as well received as the previous seven seasons. Although the final run of episodes started off strong, fans and critics alike were ultimately disappointed with how things came to pass in the show's final three episodes. One fan went so far as to create a petition for more "competent" writers to rewrite the final Game of Thrones season from scratch, attracting nearly two million signatures. For seemingly most fans of the show, the series did not have the perfect ending people had been hoping for.

Still, after spending her entire teenage years working on the program, Game of Thrones still clearly has a special place in Turner's heart. Even if the ending of the series wasn't perfect, we can all agree that Turner's performance was phenomenal, and it's only appropriate for her to remain the Queen in the North -- even if she'll never portray Sansa onscreen again.
