The final season of Game of Thrones is still in production, with filming slated to last until this summer, but today an intriguing potential rumor has surfaced, which could hint that one of the female characters on the show is expecting. A new "Blind Item" at TV Line, which reveals the details of a new scoop without stating the series, for inexplicable reasons, states that an, "Emmy-winning series on a premium cable network is plotting a pregnancy twist," that is said to be incredibly surprising. While Game of Thrones isn't specifically mentioned, it is revealed that this show in question won't be returning until 2019, and it was confirmed earlier this month that the final season won't debut until 2019. It's possible that this "Blind Item" could be referring to another hit HBO series, Big Little Lies, which is also not slated to return until 2019.

This is said to be an "unlikely pregnancy," which is said to have implications that are both "dramatic and darkly comedic," while adding that those who assume they know who the baby's daddy is will be wrong. If this is in fact referring to Game of Thrones, then that will likely eliminate the possibility of a Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow (Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington) pregnancy, after their tryst towards the end of Season 7. That scene was even more awkward since the audience knew that Dany is actually Jon Snow's aunt, although they do not know that Jon Snow is actually the son of Ned Stark's sister Lyanna Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen's brother Rhaegar Targaryen. It's possible that Daenerys could be pregnant from another father.

With the "baby bump" said to be revealed right when the show returns in 2019, and the "baby's daddy" said to be a mystery, it's possible that this character got pregnant between the events of Season 7 and Season 8, and the pregnancy could be a mystery that unfolds throughout the season. If this shocking pregnancy is in fact from the Game of Thrones world, another possibility could be Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). One of the few running gags throughout Season 7 was the relationship potential between Brienne and Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), although series creator David Benioff revealed that he will have to kill one of them off now, because, "there can't be a happy ending or any romantic connection on the show." Still, given how much Brienne has been mocked throughout the show for her man-ish looks, her getting pregnant (perhaps with Podrick?) would certainly be quite the shock.

That cryptic statement may be one reason that this "mystery pregnancy" isn't actually from Game of Thrones, but it also could be another clue that it is, since fans certainly wouldn't be expecting anyone to get pregnant, while the Night King and his army of the undead threaten everything and everyone in Westeros. Still, the show has managed to surprise fans at every turn, now that the series has caught up with the books by George R.R. Martin, and dealing with a pregnancy during a fight for the survival of all of Westeros would certainly up the stakes quite a bit.

While HBO has refused to release any story details yet, actor Ben Crompton, who has played Night's Watch character Dolorous Edd since Season 2, hinted in an interview that his character may be killed in the final season, although there is no confirmation about his fate, or the fate of anyone else in Westeros. This "Blind Item" from TV Line doesn't provide any additional clues, and it remains to be seen when, or if, more details about this story will be released.
