The end is almost here. HBO has released images for Game of Thrones season 8, episode 5 and they raise some pretty interesting questions. Last weekend's episode was the aftermath from The Long Night as Westeros held a massive funeral and burned the remains. Elsewhere, secrets are being shared and Daenerys lost another dragon while her leadership is being questioned behind-the-scenes. We left off in a pretty intense place and it looks like we're about to see another battle in the penultimate episode.

One of the first questions raised in these new Game of Thrones images involves Jon Snow and Lord Varys. As seen in the last episode, we know Varys is up to something, possibly treason, and one of the images has him and Snow together. It's unclear what his motives are, but he clearly wants Snow to lead. Tyrion has other thoughts, though he is conflicted. In another image from the upcoming episode, he looks pretty scared. Author Stephen King and many more fans are rooting for Tyrion to take it all, so we'll just have to wait and see how this all ends.

Harry Strickland from the Gold Company is featured in another Game of Thrones image from the upcoming episode 5. He's leading the fight for Cersei, but he seems like an interesting (or not at all) choice to bring in at this late stage of the game. Regardless, he is going to be going up against Jon Snow and Daenerys' army, which doesn't look very big from the images shown. They lost a huge amount of their army going up against the Night King. Speaking of which, is the Night King really gone?

Euron Greyjoy is shown in the latest Game of Thrones images too looking a bit surprised while peering into the sky. Could this be the end of the line for him? Daenerys will certainly want some revenge for killing Rhaegal, but will she be able to attack the Iron Fleet from behind this time? In another image, we see Daenerys looking rather tired, which makes sense after all of the loss she just went through in a matter of minutes. While the future of the show is a mystery, one can easily see Daenerys going a bit mad when Sunday night rolls around.

Game of Thrones season 8 is nearly finished. Both episode 5 and 6 are 80 minutes each, which is huge, but it is the end. Director Miguel Sapochnik is back to helm the episode after taking on The Long Night and the Battle of the Bastards from season 6. While The Long Night was supposed to be the huge battle of the season, there still might be some pretty big surprises coming our way in the final two episodes. With that being said, let's hope they find any stray Starbucks cups and edit them out of the frame before airing.
