Game of Thrones presses turbo on the season seven plot with Stormborn. As key players come together to cement alliances, Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) makes a gangster move. He lives up to his badass reputation, much to the detriment of the Sand Snakes and his relatives. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) embarks on a new journey with Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham). Arya (Maisie Williams) and Ser Jorah (Ian Glenn) take steps toward home. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) gets seasoned advice from Lady Tyrell (Diana Rigg).

The episode opens on a stormy night at Dragonstone. Daenerys has assembled her war council. She does not feel at home. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) swear they will not be there long. Daenerys challenges Varys loyalty. He has always switched sides when it suited. He conspired to have her killed in Essos. Varys does not back down. He tells her that he is for the people, and that she is the best hope for them. Daenerys admires his courage, but swears she will burn him alive if he betrays her.

Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) announces a visitor. The Red Priestess, Melissandre (Carice Van Outen), has come to see Daenerys. Melissandre tells the prophecy of the prince that will rescue them from the long night. Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) corrects her; the legend could also refer to a princess. Melissandre updates Tyrion on Jon Snow. She advises they meet with him and ask what he has seen. Tyrion trusts and respects Jon. He tells Daenerys Jon would be a great ally against Cersei (Lena Headey).

At Winterfell, Jon has received Tyrion's message. He discusses their options with Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Ser Davos. Sansa remembers Tyrion's kindness, but believes it could be a trap. In the south at Kings Landing, Cersei is speaking to the Tyrell banner men. She warns of the horrors that await them if Daenerys takes the Iron Throne. Lord Tarly (James Faulkner) asks how can they fight three dragons. Qyburn (Anton Lesser) speaks up; he is working on a solution. Outside the throne room, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) asks Lord Tarly to lead their armies. He refuses, his name means loyalty, and they have sworn an oath to Lady Tyrell. Jaime says he must choose a side.

At the Citadel, the Archmaester (Jim Broadbent) is reviewing Ser Jorah's condition. He can do nothing. The greyscale has progressed too far. He's allowed to stay one more day because he is a knight. Sam (John Bradley) is stunned to learn he is a Mormont. Back in the dungeons of Kings Landing, Qyburn takes Cersei to see the bones of the Targaryan dragons. He unveils a new weapon made for their specific threat. The machine shoots an arrow through the skull.

At Dragonstone, Daenerys has assembled her full war council. Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) wants to attack Kings Landing with force. Tyrion does not want a blood bath. Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) mocks him. He curses her for poisoning his niece Myrcella. Daenerys reminds Ellaria to respect Tyrion as her hand. Tyrion tells Ellaria and Lady Tyrell to surround Kings Landing. The Dothraki and Unsullied will move against the Lannisters at Casterly Rock. They will then meet and form an alliance with Jon Snow. Daenerys asks to speak to Lady Tyrell in private. The Queen of Thorns gives her sage advice. Ignore the counsel of clever men, to rule you need to be feared, to be the dragon.

Missandei comes to say goodbye to Grey Worm in his quarters. He admits his love for her. The long awaited hookup finally happens. The following day at the Citadel, Sam asks the Archmaester for permission to treat Ser Jorah. He has discovered a dangerous and risky treatment. The Archmaester forbids him. Later that night, Sam goes to treat Ser Jorah anyway. Ser Jorah muffles his screams as Sam peels away the grey skin.

Arya has stopped to see Hot Pie (Ben Hawkey) on her way to Kings Landing. She eats pie and ale as he updates her on events. Arya is told that the Boltons are dead and that Jon Snow is the King in the North. She is floored by this news. As she leaves, Hot Pie compliments her on being a beautiful girl. Arya urges him to be careful in the war to come. Arya changes her course to Winterfell.

At Winterfell, Jon Snow has received Sam's raven about the mountain of Dragonglass. He tells the lords that he will accept Daenerys Targaryan's invitation. They will need her army and Dragons against the white walkers. Sansa and Lady Mormont (Bella Ramsey) vehemently disagrees. He must stay in the North. It may be a trap. His grandfather was burned alive by the Mad King. Jon knows they cannot defeat the Night King without her help. He leaves a surprised Sansa in charge of the North.

Jon is at Ned Stark's grave in the crypt. His moment of reflection is interrupted by Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen). Jon wants nothing to do with him. Littlefinger says he deserves a thank you for saving them against Ramsey. He then brings up his love for Sansa. Jon has had enough. He chokes Littlefinger, threatening to kill him if he touches Sansa. Outside in the courtyard, Jon waves to Sansa as he leaves. Littlefinger, massaging his throat, looks at her ominously.

Arya is in the woods en route to Winterfell. As she tends to a fire, her horse starts acting nervously. She draws her sword. She's surrounded by a pack of wolves. To her astonishment, Nymeria, her long freed dire wolf leads the pack. Arya approaches her gently, asking Nymeria to return with her home. Nymeria backs off and leaves with the wolves. Her days by Arya's side are no longer.

Stormborn comes to an action packed conclusion on the sea to Dorne. The Sand Snakes are in their hammocks, bickering on who will kill who in Kings Landing. Ellaria is flirting with Yara as Theon (Alfie Allen) brings them wine. Their boat comes to a shuddering halt. Yara runs out on deck to see Euron's forces have ambushed them. His ship impales hers. The Iron Borne army is set loose on deck. Euron spears Obara (Keisha Castle-Hughes), then chokes Nymeria (Jessica Henwick) to death. Ellaria and Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers) are taken prisoner. Euron then beats Yara in a bloody fight. He beckons Theon come to her rescue, but Reek rears his cowardly head. Theon abandons his sister and leaps off the boat to safety. The episode ends with him in the burning water, watching Euron sail away.

Euron's execution of two Sand Snakes was savage and bloody. His battle prowess is legit. He vanquished Yara and got Ellaria as a prize for Cersei. We'll see if Yara survives under her uncle's capture. The long awaited meeting between Daenerys and Jon is set. Sansa finally gets her chance to call the shots. Littlefinger is still at Winterfell, but I have a feeling Arya is soon to arrive. I wish the Sand Snakes had more screen time, but they had their chance to fight it out. At least Grey Worm and Missandei exited the friend zone. Stormborn settled a few fates and greatly advanced the overall story. Game of Thrones Season 7 seven continues next Sunday on HBO.
