With just 33 days left until Season 6 of Game of Thrones arrives, anticipation for the new episodes has never been higher, perhaps because this season has been the most secretive yet. No plot details or new characters have been confirmed yet, and the network even refused to send out advanced screeners to press members, since the first four episodes of Season 5 leaked early last year. Entertainment Weekly caught up with writer-producer Bryan Cogman, who teased that this season will have the biggest battle yet, and its the largest ever seen on TV.

"It's definitely the biggest [action sequence yet]. We've always wanted to get to a place - story-wise and budget-wise and time-wise and resource-wise - where we would be able to do a proper battle, with one army on one side, one army on another side."

The show is certainly no stranger to wide-scale battles, with memorable action sequences including the Battle of Blackwater Bay in Season 2, the epic Castle Black battle in Season 4 and last season's epic Hardhome battle, where we got our first look at the Night's King. This sequence, however, is said to be much more cinematic in scope, with hundreds of human soldiers on each side of the battlefield. Series co-creator and showrunner D.B. Weiss added that he wondered why battles on this scale aren't often seen on television, but he soon found out why.

"We wondered, 'Why don't you see more fully fleshed-out battles in movies and TV?' Then you get into the nitty-gritty of what it takes to actually shoot these things in a way that isn't just helter-skelter chaos but actually gives you a sense of battle geography and the ebb and flow, and you realize why."

While D.B. Weiss and his co-creator/co-showrunner David Benioff wouldn't reveal any specifics about this battle, what episode it takes place in or who will actually be fighting, they did say that the episode was directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who directed last season's epic Hardhome episode. The battle sequence itself took one month to shoot, with David Benioff teasing that there are a number of horses involved in this action sequence. Here's what he had to say below.

"Miguel did such a fantastic job with Hardhome we thought we should bring him back - this time with horses. Horses are not easy, at all. And certainly in terms of numbers - number of extras, number of stuntmen, number of shooting days - it's the biggest we've done."

The trailer released earlier this month features a number of action-packed battle sequences, but we don't know for sure if any of that footage was from this epic battle scene. Series star Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, recently teased that Game of Thrones Season 6 will feature a lot of deaths, many of which will likely come in this epic battle. Who do you think will be fighting each other in this huge fight sequence?
