George R.R. Martin has given Game of Thrones fans an excerpt from his new novel Fire and Blood, which is his latest Westeros history book. Martin takes a deep dive into Daenerys Targaryen's family tree, telling the history of the Targaryens in Westeros, which could have some implications in the upcoming final season of the hit HBO series. The book will be available on November 20th, but for Game of Thrones fans who can't wait, you can read the brief excerpt that Martin has provided on his website.

Fire and Blood is written through the perspective of Archmaester Gyldayn. The excerpted chapter that George R.R. Martin has provided features Alysanne Targaryen, wife and sister to the fourth Targaryen king, Jaehaerys I. Fire and Blood is set over half a century after Aegon the Conqueror seized control over Westeros and forged the Seven Kingdoms and centuries before the Game of Thrones series. Alysanne heads to the north for the first time and in doing so, she meets members of the Stark clan and then later with the Night's Watch at Castle Black.

Daenerys has been North before, but she has not seen House Stark yet, and has not met any of Jon Snow's family. Fire and Blood includes Alysanne Targaryen making first contact with the Starks with a positive experience, which one hopes will happen when the Mother of Dragons shows up there in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. The excerpt also brings up the fact that Alysanne is organizing a "women's court" in White Harbor.

Fire and Blood is definitely something that Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for, but not as long as they have been waiting for the sixth installment of A Song of Ice and Fire, which is what the popular series is based off of. However, the latest excerpt and the full book coming in November should give hardcore fans something to focus on before Season 8 premieres in the first half of 2019. While no official date has been given, it looks like we could see the final season debut in late May or early June, which really isn't too much longer to wait.

Game of Thrones Season 8 will consist of six episodes that will be a bit longer than we have seen before, so fans shouldn't worry about the quantity. Instead, it will be all about the quality when we're finally able to see the conclusion of the hit show. Fire and Blood will help lay the foundation of the Targaryen's and their rich history with Westeros, so that will definitely be of some use to several fans who want to know everything about Game of Thrones. You can head over to George R.R. Martin's website to read the excerpt in its entirety and then preorder the book at your favorite spot.
