With +Game of Thrones receiving backlash from fans following its series finale, former Seinfeld star Jason Alexander is offering some sound advice to the cast and crew. On Sunday night, the last episode ever of the hit HBO series aired, and finale left many viewers unsatisfied. In the age of social media, fan complaints are made even more prevalent than ever, and it's impossible for those involved in the show not to see the criticism.

Taking to Twitter, Alexander offered his support to those on the Game of Thrones team as someone who knows a thing or two about criticized series finales. Here's what the former Seinfeld star had to say.

"Dear GOT company, I know a little something about finales and disappointed fans. My advice: live in joy that you are part of something that moves people so. You were all magnificent. My family and I loved it all. Thanks."

Beginning in 1989, Jason Alexander co-starred with Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Michael Richards on the hit sitcom Seinfeld. As George Costanza, Alexander provided many of the show's most memorable lines of the series which are still often quoted to this day. Considered one of the greatest sitcoms ever made, the show was critically acclaimed and a beloved fan favorite for TV-watchers in the '90s. Although ratings were very high, Seinfeld chose to end the show after nine seasons in 1998. An estimated 76.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the historic final episode, but many fans were unhappy with the show's creative direction, which culminated in the four lead characters placed behind bars.

The backlash from (now former) Game of Thrones fans against the show has reached astronomical heights, as a petition for HBO to remake Season 8 has topped one million signatures. Ratings for the final three episodes are also among the worst the show has ever gotten on Rotten Tomatoes, ending the series on a down note. However, as Alexander points out, being a part of something so big is still something for everyone involved to be tremendously proud of. Fan complaints aside, there are others who've very much enjoyed how the show turned out, and at the end of the day, you just can't please everyone.

The Game of Thrones universe will eventually be expanded upon in an upcoming prequel series from HBO. Starring Naomi Watts in an undisclosed role, the series takes place 10,000 years before the events of the original show. This means there will be Easter eggs and references to the series, but we won't be seeing any of the same characters. Additionally, the network has discussed other potential prequel or spin-off shows to continue Game of Thrones, but nothing else has as of yet been confirmed. Certainly, there are several fan favorites fans would love to see more of should any of them return in their own spin-off series.

Seinfeld is one of those very popular shows to never receive any kind of spin-off or companion series. Still, Alexander is fondly remembered for his run on the show all of these years past its conclusion. Even if some fans aren't happy with how Game of Thrones ended, those on the show will also be remembered for many years to come. You can take a look at the tweet below from Alexander on Twitter.
