While we have yet to hear an official confirmation from FX yet, Global News is reporting that The Strain has been picked up for a second season.

Production is scheduled to begin on Season 2 this November in Toronto. Shooting on Season 1 of The Strain took place between September 2013 to late April in Toronto.

Naturally, since the renewal hasn't been confirmed by FX yet, it isn't clear which cast members are coming back, especially since we're not even halfway through The Strain's first season.

Corey Stoll stars as CDC canary team leader Ephraim Goodweather, who is investigating a viral strain of vampirism that is spreading throughout New York City. The actor is also about to start production on Ant-Man, but it is unclear how that schedule may affect his return to The Strain.

The Strain debuted last month to solid ratings, which have slightly increased from week to week. The series was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their own novels.
