Future Man Season 2 premiered this past January, leaving off with a pretty big and ambitious cliffhanger. Today, Hulu has announced that the series will return for Season 3. But that's it. That's all we're getting.

Future Man will officially bring its story to a close when it returns for Season 3. No premiere date has been set on Hulu at this time, but these final episodes should drop sometime in 2020. The sci-fi comedy originally debuted in November 2017, with more than a year passing between the first two seasons. Even if that same amount of time passes between Seasons 2 and 3, it will still likely air sometime next year.

Future Man has been confirmed for 8 final episodes. The first and second seasons consisted of 13 half-hour episodes each. The show is quite ambitious, which could account for there being fewer episodes as this epic saga starts to wind down.

Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are responsible for the high-concept throwback to 80s sci-fi and action comedy, with episodes taking on, and poking fun at such classic movies as Back to the Future, Mad Max and Top Gun, just to name a few. The show comes from Sony Pictures TV. Returning from the cast in Season 3 will be Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson.

Hutcherson plays Josh Futturman, a gammer who moonlights as a janitor to pay the bills. He gets swept up in a mysterious time travel adventure with future warriors Wolf and Tiger, who recruit him to prevent the extinction of humanity. In the course of 26 episodes, Futterman and his cohorts have epically destroyed the space time continuum. And in the third season, they will all have to play against each other in a futuristic death game.

Future Man started out strong in its first season, but lost some traction when it returned for season two. The lack of interest in recent episodes is blamed on an overcrowded premium streaming landscape. Though some viewers didn't return, season two earned a fresh score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from the 82% score from the first season.

Season 3 will give the team a chance to wrap up the story. Hunter and Shaffir created the series, with Rogen and Goldberg directing the pilot. Executive producers include Matt Tolmach, James Weaver and Ben Karlin, working alongside Hunter, Shaffir, Rogen and Goldberg.

Season 2 picked up in the year 2162, and found Josh, Wolf and Tiger learning their season one mission failed. They attempt to reunite and save the world a second time, but all their time tampering catches up to them. Now they must face the consequences when season 3 kicks off.

Rogen and Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures, Matt Tolmach Productions and Turkeyfoot Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television are responsible for producing each and every episode of Future Man. This news closely follows the recent announcement that Rogen and Goldberg will also be wrapping up production on their AMC series Preacher, which will end with Season 4. Point Grey Pictures is leaving Sony TV, and will soon move to Lionsgate. This news comes from Deadline
