Last season, The Flash introduced actor Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, the son and brother Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) never knew they had. However, DC fans knew who he was...and they also know that he sometimes goes by another name. Today, the first official image of Lonsdale as Kid Flash has been released, which you can check out below..

In the DC Comics, Kid Flash is the youthful alias Wally initially adopted after being struck by lightning the same way that Barry Allen was. Kid Flash served as a sidekick to Allen's Flash, as well as a founding member of the Teen Titans. The DC Comics blog confirms that Keiynan Lonsdale will make his first appearance as Kid Flash in The Flash Season 3 premiere episode, Flashpoint, on October 4, 2016.

While the show's Wally bears a slightly different relationship to Barry than he has in the comics, where he's the nephew of Iris West, and after their marriage, to Barry as well, Wally's costume is awfully close to what we've seen on the page. In fact, it's pretty much all there-the yellow and red, the lightning bolt, the exposed hair. Some fans had assumed that Kid Flash would surface in the Season 3 premiere, after the Flashpoint title was revealed, since this character is featured in the Flashpoint Paradox comics this episode will be based on.

The Flashpoint Paradox comics were written by Geoff Johns, where Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) wakes up in a much different world, where all of the DC heroes have changed vastly. The comics, which debuted in 2011, featured the nefarious Captain Cold as Central City's hero, while there is no Justice League at all and Bruce Wayne was actually killed as a boy, instead of his parents. What's more, Barry Allen is the only person to realize the changes that have been made in this universe. In the Flashpoint comics, Wally West serves as a assistant and cameraman to his aunt, Iris West, who is a TV reporter investigating Citizen Cold, an alternate version of Captain Cold.

It's worth noting that, in the Flashpoint Paradox comics, Wally West is actually killed by Citizen Cold after discovering his true identity as a criminal, but it remains unclear if the show will follow that particular part of the story. In the New 52 reboot, which happened just after the Flashpoint comics, the new Wally was introduced as the cousin of pre-Flashpoint Wally and the son of New 52's Reverse Flash, Daniel West. While we wait for more on Season 3 of The Flash, check out the first photos of Kid Flash below.
