The TCA winter tour continues today, with The CW's presentation, where the network made a few big announcements. Deadline reports that filmmaker Kevin Smith has come aboard to direct an unspecified Season 2 of The Flash. No specific details about the episode were revealed, but it will air sometime in May. It's possible that this could be the season finale, but that has not been confirmed.

Kevin Smith hasn't spent much time working in television, but he did direct the pilot episode of The CW's Reaper back in 2007. He currently serves as one of the stars and executive producers on AMC's Comic Book Men. It isn't known when production on Kevin Smith's episode of The Flash will begin.

The CW also announced that it's renewing The CW Seed animated web series entitled Vixen. The title character, voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke, was recently revealed to appear on Arrow, and The CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed the character may also get her own live action spinoff series, or transition over to the upcoming show DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Speaking of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, executive producer Greg Berlanti revealed that the show won't cross over too much with both Arrow and The Flash.

It's intermittent throughout. Because they're a band of time traveling rogues, it's harder for Arrow and The Flash to be connected story wise to it throughout the season. That being said, if you know the histories of Arrow and Flash, it should be extra fun in its own way as we delve deeper and deeper into the characters lives."
