Fans were given quite the surprise in late November, when it was revealed that The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead crossover character was none other than Lennie James' Morgan Jones, and now we have two new photos from this important episode. The beloved actor will be leaving The Walking Dead after Season 8, transitioning to Fear the Walking Dead, which started production on Season 4 in Austin, Texas at the end of November. Along with these photos, new Fear the Walking Dead showrunner Andrew Chambliss shed some light on this crossover.

The Walking Dead crossover was first announced at New York Comic Con in early October, where Robert Kirkman revealed that one character from The Walking Dead will transition to Fear the Walking Dead, which is set a few years behind the continuity of The Walking Dead. Many fans assumed this crossover character was Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), since it was revealed at the end of Fear the Walking Dead Season 3 that the show will be shifting to Houston, Texas, and that's where Abraham Ford is from in the original comics. Although Abraham Ford was killed in the Season 7 finale, since Fear the Walking Dead is a few years behind the flagship show, many fans thought it would be fitting for Abraham to return, but that's not the case. These new photos show that Morgan is still using his fighting stick, with Andrew Chambliss revealing more about this beloved character and how he'll fit into Fear the Walking Dead. Here's what he had to say below.

"As Morgan Jones steps into the world of FTWD, he'll be continuing the journey he began on The Walking Dead way back in the pilot. Ian and I were huge fans of the character when Lennie James first brought him to life back then, again when he returned in season 3, and finally when he became a series regular in season 6."

Lennie James' Morgan has had quite the interesting journey on The Walking Dead. He appeared in the pilot episode along with his son Duane, and they were supposed to ultimately meet Rick in Atlanta, but that never happened. Morgan made a surprise appearance in the Season 3 episode Clear, where he reunited with Rick, although he was quite mentally unstable at that time, and he would later return in the Season 5 premiere, when he was seen travelling on his own, with his new fighting stick, and he was reunited with Rick once again in the Season 5 finale, before becoming a series regular in Season 6 and beyond. Lennie James offered our first look at Morgan in late November, sending out a video from the set on the first day of production on Fear the Walking Dead Season 4. Here's what Andrew Chambliss had to say about his early interactions with Lennie James.

"When we first met Lennie, he impressed upon us how much he cared about the character and how important it was to him for us to take Morgan to places we hadn't seen before. It's been a great challenge to set for ourselves, and it's what we hope to do with the character, to push Morgan to places he could only get by coming into contact with the characters on Fear. They'll change him. And, at the same time, he'll change them."

Lennie James will be joined by a few other new characters in Fear the Walking Dead Season 4, including Garrett Dillahunt as a new series regular, although no specifics about the character have been given. Other newcomers joining the cast this season include Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace, although nothing has been revealed about their characters at this time.
