We have a new trailer for the Fear the Walking Dead season 6 midseason finale. AMC's zombie-filled spin-off series has been going strong this year but will soon be taking a break for the rest of 2020, before returning next year with plenty more post-apocalyptic action. Now, the network has released a brief teaser trailer giving fans a taste of what's to come in the episode, which may be of interest to fans of classic horror.
The episode, titled Damage from the Inside, sees Strand sending Alicia and Charlie on a mission to look for Dakota. The teaser is brief, but there are lots of Walkers, lots of tension and a whole bunch of setup. But mostly, it looks like Alicia and Charlie are going to find themselves in a very bad spot. That is to be expected though, as Showrunner Ian Goldberg previously said to Entertainment Weekly that this episode "is the zombie apocalypse riff on some themes and ideas you might find in movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." A brief clip from the episode was also released, which sees Alicia exercising some reluctance before taking orders from Strand.
Fear the Walking Dead season 5 proved to be a low-point for the show. Not only that, but heading into season 6, the series was faced with a production shutdown over health and safety concerns. Everything seemed to be conspiring against it. Despite that, critically, this is the highest-rated season of the show to date on Rotten Tomatoes. And there is even more left to look forward to as AMC is taking the midseason break a bit early. There will be nine new episodes ready to air when the show returns in 2021.
The cast includes Lennie James (Morgan Jones), Alycia Debnam-Carey (Alicia), Maggie Grace (Althea), Colman Domingo (Victor Strand), Danay Garcia (Luciana Galvez), Garret Dillahunt (John Dorie), Austin Amelio (Dwight), Alexa Nisenson (Charlie), Jenna Elfman (Naomi), Karen David (Grace) and Ruben Blades (Daniel Salazar). AMC has already renewed the show for season 7. Given that The Walking Dead recently kicked off production for the extended season 10 already, it seems likely that the network will be able to keep things on track, meaning it should debut sometime next year and not be pushed to 2022.
Meanwhile, the scope of The Walking Dead universe is expanding. Aside from The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which is airing its first season this year, two new spin-offs are in the works. One focused on Daryl and Carol is on the way, as well as an anthology series titled Tales of the Walking Dead. This comes after AMC announced that the main series will be concluding its run after an extended season 11. But, even as ratings have declined, they still feel there is a lot of juice left to squeeze from Robert Kirkman's zombie world. The Fear the Walking Dead midseason finale airs November 22 on AMC.
