The FX Network is engaged in very early discussions with MGM Television about turning the 1996 dark comedy Fargo into a TV series.
Insiders stress that both FX and MGM are far away from cementing a deal, although it is believed that MGM Studios has been looking to exploit its catalog titles, as a way to earn extra revenue after recovering from bankruptcy. It isn't known if both the network and studio have a writer in mind to adapt the Joel Coen and Ethan Coen movie for the small screen.
Fargo starred Oscar winner Frances McDormand as a pregnant police chief trying to solve a bizarre string of murders. William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, and Peter Stormare also starred.
MGM recently launched the successful Teen Wolf series on MTV, which is based on the 1985 Teen Wolf movie starring Michael J. Fox.
