Netflix has announced that Bill Burr's F is for Family has been renewed for season 5. It will, however, be its final season on the streaming platform. As of right now, season 5 is in the pre-production process, with new episodes expected to premiere in 2021. The renewal news comes less than four months after the release of Season 4, which premiered on the streaming platform back in June. Netflix did not provide a reasoning behind their decision to end the fan-favorite series.

F Is for Family is not the only Netflix original to recently be guaranteed a final season. Atypical, Dead to Me, Dear White People, GLOW, Grace and Frankie, The Kominsky Method, Lost in Space, Lucifer, Money Heist, and Ozark are all coming to an end with one final season. In reaction to the cancellation, Bill Burr said, "Thank you to all the fans that watched this show. Thanks to Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley, Victoria Vaughn, Ted Sarandos and all the INCREDIBLE writers, performers, animators, editors and musicians that made this show happen." He continued, "Special thanks to the captain of the ship: the great Mike Price! I love all you guys."

Michael Price, who co-created F Is for Family with Bill Burr says, "Working on this show with the great Bill Burr, Vince Vaughn, and our amazing cast, writers, producers and crew has been the greatest joy of my life, and I'm thrilled that we get to do one more season with the Murphys." He then noted, "I'll be forever grateful to everyone at Netflix, Gaumont and Wild West who let us share this stressed-out, foul-mouthed and loving family with the world." Netflix has had success with the adult-oriented animated series since it premiered back in 2015.

F Is for Family is inspired by Bill Burr's childhood and it's set in the fictional town of Rustvale, Pennsylvania in the early-mid 1970s. Burr voices Frank Murphy and is joined by Laura Dern (Big Little Lies), Justin Long (New Girl), Sam Rockwell, Haley Reinhart (American Idol), Mo Collins (MADtv), and Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul). Vince Vaughn is on board as an executive producer on the animated series. For now, it's unclear when F Is for Family will be back with season 5.

Vince Vaughn also spoke about F Is for Family coming to an end. "It has been so great to see Mike and Bill - two guys I admire and respect - create something like this and build it from the ground-up," said Vaughn. "It has been a lot of fun getting to be a part of it, and I'm looking forward to continuing to support their vision, for the final season. A big thanks to Ted Sarandos and the whole Netflix team for being so supportive during this great journey." Hopefully we'll get a season 5 update in the near future. Vulture was the first to announce the season 5 renewal.
