Doctors Ten and Thirteen will unite for the upcoming video game Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality. On Sunday, it was announced by Maze Theory and BBC Studios that two new Doctor Who video games are in the works. One of the games, The Edge of Reality, is planned for a release on consoles and PC in Spring 2021. Described as a reimagining and expansion of last year's virtual reality title Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, the first-person game puts players in the role of the Thirteenth Doctor in an all-new adventure.

Per the press release, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality features "new worlds to explore, new puzzles, new challenges and new gameplay. Uncover a universe-spanning threat as you seek to save reality from a series of time-breaking glitches. Continue the story that began in The Edge of Time and partner with the Doctor to unearth a greater mystery. Come face-to-face with classic Doctor Whomonsters including the Daleks and Weeping Angels. Experience the metal-clad terror of the Cybermen and more foes yet to be revealed."

Also coming to the Switch and mobile devices next year is Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins. Developed by Kaigan Games, the title follows "a sinister series of events taking place at Wester Drumlins, the iconic 'uninhabited' home featured in the legendary Doctor Who episode 'Blink.' Someone is missing and a menacing new nemesis has emerged. Players will work with Petronella Osgood and other classic characters as they get steadily closer to the truth. There is only one rule: don't turn your back, don't look away and don't blink!"

"With our partners at BBC Studios, we are expanding the Doctor Who universe through a ground-breaking trilogy of experiences, now delivered across multiple devices and platforms. The uniting of The Thirteenth Doctor and The Tenth in Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is set to be an epic moment in a game that completely re-imagines last year's VR experience," says Ian Hambleton, CEO of Maze Theory.
"The Edge of Reality and The Lonely Assassins bring Doctor Who to life on console and mobile in a new and thrilling way. From saving the universe with the Thirteenth and Tenth Doctors, to bringing back the Weeping Angels, it's going to be an exciting year and we can't wait to reveal more!" added Kevin Jorge of BBC Studios.

It's interesting to see Whittaker and Tennant's Doctors come together for a new project, as the two were just recently voted as the most popular Doctors of them all. Tennant managed to win the No. 1 spot, though Whittaker followed very close behind. Out of 50,000 total votes, Whittaker came up short by a hundred. In any case, the two are clearly very big fan favorites among Doctor Who fans, so Hambleton is right when he says that uniting the two will make for an "epic moment."

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time and Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins will be launching in Spring 2021. The Edge of Time will be released on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox. Meanwhile, The Lonely Assassins is coming to the Nintendo Switch along with iOS and Android devices. You can watch the trailer for The Edge of Realiity below, courtesy of Maze Theory on YouTube.
