Two days ago, we reported that actress Jenna-Louise Coleman had been cast in Doctor Who as the new companion of Matt Smith's title character. While we don't know many details about this new female character, BBC has released the first photo of the actress on set. Take a look at the Time Lord's new friend.

The sci-fi series is currently shooting Season 7, which consists of 14 episodes. Jenna-Louise Coleman will make her first appearance in the show's 2012 Christmas Special, after Karen Gillan's departure in the season's fifth episode. This season will build up to the show's 50th Anniversary celebration next year.
