Way back in November 2013, Marvel and Netflix announced that they were teaming up to produce four new superhero shows, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. At the time, the plan was for all four superheroes to come together and form The Defenders in a Netflix miniseries. While the streaming service hasn't announced a debut date for The Defenders yet, Independent.co.uk reports that the miniseries will start shooting at the end of this year. Here's what Daredevil star Charlie Cox had to say during a Netflix event in Paris over the weekend.

"What we do know is at the end of this year we're going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome. I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I'm very excited to see how those world's combine... and interested to see tonally how those shows become one."

No story details for The Defenders have been released thus far, and it isn't known what creative talent will be behind the camera for this miniseries. It isn't known if any of the writers or directors who work on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will come back, teaming up much like these heroes, or if the streaming service will bring on a whole new creative team. When asked if The Defenders will wrap up any particular storylines, Charlie Cox had this to say.

"In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they'll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won't."

Daredevil has already aired two seasons, with Netflix renewing Jessica Jones for a second season. We don't know for sure yet if Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be renewed by Netflix, but if they are just as popular as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the shows would certainly get picked up for additional seasons. Are you glad that The Defenders will start shooting later this year? Stay tuned for more about this upcoming miniseries, and the rest of the Marvel/Netflix lineup.
