Actress Gina Carano has signed on to play Angel Dust in 20th Century Fox's highly-anticipated superhero adaptation Deadpool, alongside Ryan Reynolds and T.J. Miller. In the Marvel Comics, Angel Dust was part of an underground mutant group known as the Morlocks, although it isn't quite known yet how she fits into the story. Ryan Reynolds returns as the title character, which he first portrayed in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that X-Men character Colossus is slated to appear in the movie. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past, but it wasn't said if the actor is reprising his role, or if another actor will take over for this project. No story details have been released at this time.

Tim Miller is directing from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with Lauren Shuler Donner producing. Production is scheduled to begin next month in Vancouver. Before Gina Carano begins shooting Deadpool, she will star in Extraction alongside Bruce Willis. Steven C. Miller is directing the action-thriller, which follows a CIA operative who is kidnapped by a terrorist group, as his son hatches a plan to save him. Production begins next week on Extraction. Gina Carano recently wrapped production on the Kickboxer reboot.
