DC's Stargirl is preparing for its debut next month with some fresh looks at the upcoming series. The new show will debut on The DC Universe streaming service May 18th and then on The CW May 19th. Included in our latest look at the show are the villains, many of whom are deeply rooted in the history of DC Comics. The New Justice Society of America is also teased in the poster as the release date nears. If all of that isn't enough, The CW released two short teasers too.

The new DC Universe drama series Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (series star Brec Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series. The latest DC Universe show looks promising and fans seem to be pretty excited about its premiere. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too much longer to see it.

In addition to Brec Bassinger, Stargirl features Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect), Trae Romano (Robbie), Anjelika Washington (Shameless), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Joel McHale (Community) as Starman, Lou Ferrigno Jr. (S.W.A.T.) as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Wildcat, Luke Wilson (Charlie's Angels), as Pat Dugan, and Henry Thomas as Dr. Mid-Nite. However, these are just the good guys. There's even more cast members taking charge in the latest DC Universe series.

As for the villainous side of things, Stargirl features Joy Osmanski as Paula Brooks, the Tigress, Christopher James Baker is Dr. Henry King, aka Brainwave. Neil Jackson plays Jordan Mahkent, aka the Icicle, while Nelson Lee is Dr. Ito, the Dragon King, and Neil Hopkins is Sportsmaster. Tigress dates back to the Golden Age Wonder Woman stories from 1947 and Brainwave is one of the biggest DC Comics villains in history. With so much going on in the world right now, comic book fans can really use a new show, so hopefully it lives up to the hype with all of these great characters included in the cast list. Plus, there's a lot of talent on the screen bringing these characters to life.

DC Universe members will be the first to stream new Stargirl episodes every Monday, starting May 18th. Members will be treated to a commercial-free experience, which is also available to be downloaded in 4K Ultra HD. DC Universe members will have access to several exclusive features, including extended episodes, behind-the-scenes footage, and exclusive Stargirl collectibles. The original Stargirl comic series was co-created by Geoff Johns, who based the hero on his sister, who tragically died while on board TWA Flight 800 in 1996. The series was originally pretty short, put Johns later resurrected it and fans are hoping to see some of the initial storylines played out in the new series. You can check out the teasers below, thanks to The CW YouTube channel, along with the latest poster art.
