Vice has released a trailer for season 3 of Dark Side of the Ring along with the official lineup for the upcoming new episodes. Since premiering on Viceland in 2019, the documentary series has been a big hit for Vice Studios. The show focuses on the ugly side of professional wrestling by exploring some of the darkest behind-the-scenes stories in the history of the business.

Dark Side of the Ring will be kicking off season 3 with a two-hour premiere about Brian Pillman. Nicknamed the Loose Cannon, Pillman is famous for his runs in World Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and the World Wrestling Federation. Fans will remember Pillman teaming up with Steve Austin as the Hollywood Blondes before the pair would later have a high-profile feud against each other. Pillman died in 1997 at the age of 35.

After the series premiere featuring Brian Pillman, the rest of the third season of Dark Side of the Ring will consist of episodes highlighting: The Collision in Korea; Nick Gage; The Ultimate Warrior; The Grizzly Smith Story; The Dynamite Kid; The WWF Steroid Trials; FMW; Luna Vachon; The Plane Ride From Hell; XPW; and Chris Kanyon.

Also covered in the new season is The Johnny K9 Story, which details his double life as an in-ring brute and the leader of a biker gang implicated in drug trafficking, the bombing of a police station, and a gruesome double murder.

"With this epic, fourteen-episode season, we've had the opportunity to push the series to new heights and dig even deeper into a world that has captivated us our entire lives," executive producers and co-creators Jason Eisener and Evan Husney said in a statement. "We're excited to unveil a season that encompasses a whole new spectrum of stories, ranging from legendary icons of the past, to contemporary snapshots from wrestling's underground, to mind-blowing sagas overseas."

AEW star and Talk Is Jericho podcast host Chris Jericho will return to serve as the show's narrator, returning from doing the same duties on season 2. The series will also feature interviews with various wrestling personalities, including Steve Austin, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Jon Moxley, Mick Foley, Diamond Dallas Page, Eric Bischoff, Jim Ross, Jim Cornette, David Arquette, Antonio Inoki, Rob Van Dam, Terry Funk, and Shari Tyree.

Previous episodes in the first two seasons of Dark Side of the Ring includes stories on Owen Hart's death, the Chris Benoit murder/suicide, the assassination of Dino Bravo, the life and crimes of New Jack, the Montreal Screwjob, the Fabulous Moolah, the murder of Bruiser Brody, the relationship between Miss Elizabeth and Randy Savage, the Brawl for All, and the last ride of the Road Warriors.

There's plenty more Dark Side where that came from as well. Vice TV has also announced the spinoff series The Dark Side of Football, which will similarly look into the darkest true tales to come out of the sport of professional football. Another spinoff series focusing on 90s pop culture, dubbed The Dark Side of the 90s, has also been announced by the network. It's not surprising to see more shows ordered after Dark Side of the Ring became Vice's most popular show.

Dark Side of the Ring will debut season 3 on Thursday, May 6, at 9 p.m. on Vice. The new trailer was posted by Vice TV on Twitter.
