Netflix has released some magical The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance images ahead of this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con panel. The prequel to Jim Henson's groundbreaking 1982 movie will be taking over Hall H this Friday at 3:30 PM and fans are hoping to get an extensive look at the new series. Netflix will debut the series at the end of August and expectations are extremely high after the streaming platform started pulling back the curtain and showcasing how awesome it looks over the past several weeks.
Elder Cadia of the Sifa Clan is one of the latest images from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series, along with quite a few others. One photo contains the caption, "So much to explore, so much to learn about Thra," while another one asks, "The Skeksis are destroying Thra. Can they be stopped?" The new images are stunning and provide an even better look at the show, which is bringing back the world of real puppeteering and practical effects.
The The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series includes an absolutely massive voice cast featuring Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel leading as Rian, Brea, and Deet, aka, the three Gelfling heroes. Other characters are voiced by Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander. The Skeksis & Mystics are voiced by Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was first announced back in May 2017 by Netflix and The Jim Henson Company. The series is written by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, and Javier Grillo-Marxuach. Production started the following November with Louis Leterrier at the helm. Fans of the Jim Henson's original movie were excited to know that the prequel was taking things back to using real puppets and practical effects. However, green screens were used to erase the puppeteers, which makes sense. The latest images from the highly anticipated show look like their might be some digital embellishments made for promotional purposes.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance premieres August 30th, exclusively on Netflix.
