The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Comic-Con panel unveiled some brand-new footage of the highly anticipated series. The room was full of enthusiastic fans as Netflix pulled back the curtain on the show, which will premiere later in August. The first few tiny peeks at the show have provided fans with a fascinating look at what the streaming platform has been working on for over two years now. The return to puppets and practical effects has been widely praised by critics and fans and the show hasn't even aired yet.
Netflix has given us a sneak peek at the highly-anticipated fantasy series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, straight from the pact floor of the convention center at SDCC. The series is obviously based on Jim Henson's groundbreaking 1982 feature, The Dark Crystal. In this stunning new prequel, three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power, and set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world. Realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects, the cast and creators discuss all of your burning questions about bringing Thra to life.
"Only at Comic Con do you get a Kermit impersonation in front of Jim Henson's daughter and Rocketman sitting next to Skywalker," stated panel moderator Damian Holbrook from TV Guide. And he's right, the cast for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is huge and it's varied. Lisa Henson was at the Comic-Con panel and says, "This is the thing I am most proud of that we have done. Being in Hall H with this show is the greatest moment of my professional life." From the looks of things, it's definitely something that would more than likely make her father happy too.
The Rise of Skywalker actor Mark Hamill also appeared at the The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Comic-Con panel. He says, "To be able to do the things you loved as a kid...I'm the luckiest guy in the world. I'm so grateful." Hamill has been fortunate enough to be a part of a number of huge projects over the years. Director Louis Leterrier talked about how difficult it was to make the series and stated that, "Every shot was the most complicated shot of my career. But the true heroes are the puppeteers."
Rocketman star Taron Egerton is still in awe of the amount of work that went into making The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. "The amount of craft that goes into the making of the puppets, the artistry that goes into those creatures, and then the guys who operate them," declared the actor. Egerton went on to say that he felt inspired every day on set. Mark Hamill commented again on what it was like to revisit something he never thought would happen after being so familiar with the source material for all of these years.
