Following a year of speculation, and numerous years of anticipation, Netflix has confirmed in a press release that the classic Daredevil villain Bullseye will indeed be one of the primary antagonists of Daredevil Season 3. Many Marvel fans have been anxiously awaiting Bullseye to enter the Daredevil series, considering that he is widely considered to be Daredevil's greatest nemesis in the comics. It looks as though the requests of these fans have finally been answered.

The press release from Netflix revealed that actor Wilson Bethel will be playing a character named Benjamin Poindexter. While the release didn't flat out say that he will be playing Bullseye specifically, in the comics, Benjamin Poindexter is one of the many names used by Bullseye, so this seems to be enough information to conclude that Bullseye will indeed be stepping on screen in the hit Netflix series. Even if he doesn't exactly dress in the Bullseye suit or call himself "Bullseye" in the series, it will still surely be enough to keep fans happy.

Following the release of the full Daredevil trailer earlier this week, numerous Marvel fans already assumed that Bullseye would be in it. At the end of this exciting trailer, a man approached Matt Murdock's Daredevil, also dressed as Daredevil. This man had been seemingly terrorizing Hell's Kitchen in costume in an attempt to ruin Daredevil's name, and also had fantastic reflexes, being able to catch the real Daredevil's nunchuck. Many fans immediately assumed that this was Bullseye, and based on this recent confirmation from Netflix, that theory is more than likely true.

This actually isn't the first live action appearance by Bullseye. In the 2003 movie Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck, Bullseye appeared as an antagonist working for Kingpin. In this movie, Bullseye was portrayed by Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell. Unfortunately, despite having a great actor, this portrayal of Bullseye wasn't the best, as the movie treated him as a bland villain with very little depth, being comparable to Toad or Sabretooth from the 2000 X-Men movie. Hopefully this new live action Bullseye will have more depth, finally doing the hit comic book character some justice.

Like in the 2003 movie, it would appear as though Bullseye will be working for Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Daredevil season 3. Based on what we saw in the latest trailer, the main plot of this third season will be about Fisk getting his revenge on Matt Murdock and Daredevil, and Bullseye seems to be one of the ways that Fisk hopes to get this revenge. We can only hope that this doesn't mean Bullseye will be treated like a minion again, but based on the previous two seasons of Daredevil, we shouldn't be too worried.

Whereas most of the other Marvel Netflix series have been hit or miss, depending on their season, Daredevil has been consistently fantastic, and this third season looks as though it may even blow the last two seasons out of the water. Bullseye is one of those characters that Marvel fans have wanted to see done right on screen for years, and based on this report by Screen Rant it looks as though their wishes are finally coming true. You can see what will happen when Daredevil meets Bullseye when Season 3 releases on Netflix on October 19th.
