We just got a nice dose of Matt Murdock in The Defenders season 1, but there is no rest for the resident blind crime fighter in Hell's Kitchen. Well, maybe just a little rest. Daredevil season 3 was given the green light by Marvel and Netflix shortly after season 2 debuted and, more than a year later, it is finally gearing up for production. A new report has revealed the actual production dates for Marvel's Daredevil season 3, which looks to get going in October. Not only that, but Charlie Cox, who plays the titular hero, has revealed that the story for season 3 is going to take influence from one of the greatest comic book stories ever.

Starting with the production dates, MCU Exchange reports that Daredevil season 3 will begin filming on October 15, with production scheduled to wrap on June 30. Obviously, some things change during the course of filming, but that is the plan as of right now. That means that it will be a pretty extensive shoot, but it also means that we probably won't see new episodes of Daredevil until late 2018 or early 2019.

As much as it may pain fans to have to wait that long for new episodes of Daredevil, it may very well be worth the wait. Charlie Cox recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter in honor of The Defenders season 1 arriving on Netflix and was asked whether or not Daredevil season 3 will take cues from Frank Miller's Daredevil: Born Again storyline. His answer was nothing shy of perfect for those who have been hoping to see this story adapted for the screen.

"For sure. That's such an amazing story. Everyone who loves Daredevil loves 'Born Again.' You can't not. And if that's the case, then the implications of that would be very exciting to me. That would be great. Having said that, I know we don't tend to follow any story blueprints too closely, because if you do, then you become a foregone conclusion. There may be elements from 'Born Again,' but I'm sure there will be elements that are unfamiliar and surprising and different in order for the show to be compelling to fans who know the comics very well. If we start making 'Born Again' page-for-page, then the people who have read it and loved it - the hardcore fans - they won't have too much drama."

In case you aren't familiar, Daredevil: Born Again is a comic book storyline from writer Frank Miller and it is generally considered to be one of his greatest contributions to the world of comics, rivaled only by The Dark Knight Returns. The story sees Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll in the series, hooked on drugs and selling out Matt Murdock's real name for a fox to the Kingpin. That leads to Wilson Fisk doing everything he can to bring the man without fear to his lowest of lows. Born Again for many is the definitive Daredevil storyline and, even if it won't be a direct adaptation, as Charlie Cox suggests, doing it in any way for Daredevil season 3 could make for something special.

Marvel and Netflix are currently filming Jessica Jones season 2 and Luke Cage season 2, which are both expected to debut on the streaming service next year. They have also officially given the green light to Iron Fist season 2. So even though Daredevil season 3 is getting underway shortly, we're almost certainly going to see new seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage first. But still, knowing that Born Again is probably coming in some form or another is enough to make it well worth being patient.
