Bindi Irwin is currently expecting her first child with husband Chandler Powell, and if he were still here, Bindi feels her father Steve Irwin would have been a "perfect" grandfather. Last August, Irwin announced that her "Baby Wildlife Warrior" was due to arrive in 2021 with a photo of herself and Chandler holding a miniature Australia Zoo outfit. She later revealed that the couple was going to have a little girl, due to arrive sometime this spring.

Speaking about her late father in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bindi has opened up on the kind of grandfather she knows the Crocodile Hunter would have been to her daughter. "He would've been a good, good grandpa. Yeah, he really would've been," Bindi Irwin said. "I don't think we would've ever seen our daughter. He would've just whisked her away into the zoo and it would've been perfect."

Though the new addition to the family won't be able to meet Steve, Bindi is happy that her daughter will still be able to learn about her famous grandfather through all of the documentary footage he had been featured in throughout his life. "It is so nice that we'll be able to introduce her to her grandfather through all of the documentaries. It's really special," the 22-year-old said.

"He'd be over the moon," added Terri Irwin, Bindi's mom and Steve's widow. "I wills ay one thing for sure is you would never have to wonder what he would've worn during any of the milestones. He would've worn khaki to the wedding, khaki to everything." Steve's son Robert, a real chip off the old block if we ever saw one, also chimed in to explain just how stoked Steve would be about the baby.

"I think it's really special that as a family we get to remember him, honor him in absolutely everything that we do," Robert explained. "And make sure that that legacy never, ever dies no matter what. And now with a new little wildlife warrior taking on the charge, he would just be insanely excited. I can't even imagine. It'd be amazing!"

Known worldwide as "The Crocodile Hunter," Steve Irwin is very well known for his work with animals. In addition to educating viewers about many different types of creatures through various documentaries and TV shows, Irwin also operated the Australia Zoo alongside Terri, spending many years of his life to better the lives of countless animals. He sadly passed away in 2006 while filming an underwater documentary, though the Crocodile Hunter is still very fondly remembered by his many fans.

The Irwin family continues to work with animals at the Australia Zoo, and they have since become television stars themselves. Terri, Bindi, and Robert are featured on the reality series Crikey! It's the Irwins, following the family and their work at the Australia Zoo. Previously debuting on Animal Planet, the show is preparing to release its third season on the streaming service Discovery+. The season will premiere on Feb. 7. This news comes to us from Entertainment Tonight.
