Steve Irwin's son Robert has recreated a famous photo of his late father posing with a koala, and at first glance, you could almost swear you were looking at the original Crocodile Hunter himself. Truly a chip off the old block, Robert's physical similarities to his father are uncanny, the young man is now looking like his dad even more so than ever. In the new image, posted by Robert on his personal Instagram account, the younger Irwin cuddles with a koala bear, and the most-liked comment on the picture really says it all: "Did anyone else think this was Steve at first?"

Robert's new photo appears to be inspired by an iconic shot of Steve which was recently shared by the Australia Zoo in a Facebook post honoring the Crocodile Hunter's memory. Of course, the Irwin family has been very active in treating injured animals at the zoo's hospital since Steve and his wife Terri first opened it many years ago. "Steve and Terri opened the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital in 2004 to treat sick, injured and orphaned animals. Since then we have treated over 90,000 animals, including an average of 800 koalas per year," the post reads. "Thanks to your generous support, we are able to continue Steve's dream giving wildlife a second chance at life."

In addition to his international fame as the titular wildlife expert on Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin is very well known for his wonderful work with animals. A passionate environmentalist, there's no telling just how many tens of thousand of animals has been rescued as a result of the efforts made by the Irwin family and their team, both at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hostpital and out in the wild.. Sadly, Irwin died in 2006 while working with stingrays during the production of an underwater documentary, and the world instantly lost one of its kindest souls that day.

More recently, Irwin's immediate family have become television celebrities as well. Airing on Animal Planet, the reality series Crikey! It's the Irwins made it to television in 2018, following the work of Steve's widow Terri, son Robert, and daughter Bindi. On the show, the Irwin family's home life is explored along with their work as animal activists and wildlife experts, and Steve is often acknowledged on the series. The show is currently in the midst of its second season.

The recreation photo with the koala bear is not the first time Robert has paid tribute to his father with such an image. Last year, Robert - even dressed in clothing identical to the familiar outfit worn by Steve - posted a comparison photograph on Instagram of the two feeding the same alligator in the same place 15 years apart. Needless to say, it's been clear for a long time Steve's son is following in his father's footsteps, and now with the two are looking almost indistinguishable from each other physically as well. Steve would no doubt be very proud. This news comes to us from Robert Irwin on Instagram.
