The Boys dominated all competitors at the inaugural Critics' Choice Super Awards, Airing on The CW on Sunday, the special event sought to honor the most popular movies and shows for specific genre-based categories including Superhero, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Horror, Action, and Animation. With four big wins at the event, The Boys took home more awards than any other title, proving that the show is just as popular with critics as it is with viewers of the popular series.

Homelander actor Antony Starr picked up the win for Best Actor in a Superhero Series. Also up for the award was Karl Urban, who plays Homelander's nemesis Billy Butcher on the show. His loss is the only one of the five nominations The Boys received that didn't go on to win, although it was to another actor from the same series. The other actors up for the award were Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Jon Cryer (Supergirl), Grant Gustin (The Flash), and Cress Williams (Black Lightning).

Starr was also a two-time award winner that night, as the acclaimed actor also won the Best Villain in a Series award. He beat out Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Abbey Lee (Lovecraft Country), Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead), Sarah Paulson (Ratched), and Finn Wittrock (Ratched). There's a lot of talent in that list of names, but Starr's performance as Homelander is just so haunting that giving him the win here seems very well-deserved.

Aya Cash, who played the sinister Stormfront in season 2 of The Boys, was named Best Actress in a Superhero Series. Like Homelander, Cash's character was dastardly behind the scenes but put on a convincing front for the cameras. Because she played the part to perfection, it's not shocking to see her get the honor. Other nominees included Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Diane Guerrero (Doom Patrol), Elizabeth Marvel (Helstrom), Lili Reinhart (Riverdale), and Cobie Smulders (Stumptown).

Finally, The Boys was crowned as the Best Superhero Series. The other shows up for consideration were DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Lucifer, and The Umbrella Academy.

Another soon-to-be star of The Boys picked up an award win that night. Jensen Ackles was named as the Best Actor in a Horror Series for his role in Supernatural, which concluded its 15-season run last year. Ackles will be brought into the cast of The Boys for season 3 as Soldier Boy, a character showrunner Eric Kripke has teased could be even worse than Homelander.

It doesn't seem like it will be very long before The Boys is filming again, so Ackles could be suited up as Soldier Boy in the very near future. Series star Jack Quaid recently teased his arrival to the set, suggesting that filming could begin as early as late January. As of now, a release date hasn't yet been set for season 3 of The Boys, but provided there are no production delays, the show will likely return later this year.
