The entertainment world is currently reeling from the sad news that actress Conchata Ferrell, star of the sitcom Two and a Half Men, has passed away at the age of 77. Many have now taken to social media to pay tribute to the star, with Two and a Half Men lead Charlie Sheen honoring his colleague and friend.
"An absolute sweetheart a consummate pro a genuine friend a shocking and painful loss," Charlie Sheen said before paying respects to Ferrell's kind nature. "Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your "people" keeping was perfect."
Jon Cryer, who also starred on the series, posted a lengthy thread paying tribute to Conchata Ferrell saying, "She was a beautiful human. Berta's gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty's warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I'm crying for the woman I'll miss, and the joy she brought so many." He continued, telling the story of first meeting Ferrell on the set of the popular sitcom, with the actor declaring that he was a big fan of hers long before they appeared together in Two and a Half Men. "I remember her first day on 2 1/2 Men. It was our second episode and I felt so lucky that they'd been able to cast her on the show. I gushed to her about what a fan i was of hers and she simply refused to believe it."
Warner Bros TV, the distributor of the sitcom, also honored Ferrell's talent via social media saying, "We are saddened by the loss of Conchata Ferrell and are grateful for the years she brought us laughs as Berta which will live on forever."
Viola Davis, who starred alongside Ferrell in the 2001 TV movie drama Amy & Isabelle paid tribute to the actress' many qualities both on and off the screen saying, "RIP Conchata Ferrell. I LOVED not just working with you but getting to know you.....your humor, your heart, your talent, how much you loved your daughter and husband..... Thanks for gracing us with your presence! Love ya."
Ferrell died on Monday following complications surrounding a cardiac arrest. Her death comes after Ferrell's husband Arnie Anderson confirmed that the actress had been in intensive care in July after suffering a cardiac arrest. Her condition sadly worsened after contracting an infection while in hospital, and she was moved to a long-term care facility and respiratory unit before sadly passing away.
Ferrell will always be fondly remembered for her role as Berta, the housekeeper in Two and a Half Men. She first starred in the show back in 2003, going on to appear in a total of 212 episodes until the series ended in 2015. The role earned her two Emmy nominations for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Over the years Ferrell has starred in a variety of beloved small-screen projects including E/R, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Matlock, Good Times, The Love Boat, and Friends. On the big screen, she is best recognized for roles in the likes of Network, Edward Scissorhands, True Romance, and Erin Brockovich. Ferrell's passing was first reported by Deadline.

From Network to True Romance to Edward Scissorhands, Conchata Ferrell was an underappreciated acting legend who could bring a smile to your face just by walking into the room. Rest in peace, Aunt Dorothy. https://t.co/8SBHQxKwVz
