Hours after Chloe Dykstra's lengthy essay was released online, Chris Hardwick broke his silence. Dykstra accused the Nerdist CEO of long-term emotional and sexual abuse over the course of their 3-year relationship. Hardwick released a statement that denies the sexual abuse claims as well as some other points in Dykstra's essay. Hardwick and Dykstra dated from 2012 to 2014 and the cosplaying actress/ TV hostess claims that the podcast and TV personality was controlling and emotionally abusive from the start of their relationship.

Chris Hardwick's statement paints Chloe Dykstra's essay in a different light. Hardwick admits that their relationship had its up and downs while also saying that he was shocked and heartbroken by what his ex had to say. He goes on to say that they just were not a good match when all is said and done and claims that the sexual abuse never happened. Hardwick explains.

"These are very serious allegations and not to be taken lightly which is why I've taken the day to consider how to respond. I was heartbroken to read Chloe's post. Our three year relationship was not perfect-we were ultimately not a good match and argued-even shouted at each other-but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her."

In her essay, which never mentions Chris Hardwick by name, Chloe Dykstra claims that the only way that she was able to get out of the abusive relationship was to kiss another man and admit it to Hardwick. However, he claims that she wanted to get back together with him for months after the incident occurred, which is not mentioned in Dykstra's essay. There are two sides to every story seems to have gotten a bit more complicated than it looks on the surface. Hardwick had this to say.

"When we were living together, I found out that Chloe had cheated on me, and I ended the relationship. For several weeks after we broke up, she asked to get back together with me and even told me she wanted to have kids with me, build a life with me and told me that I was the one, but I did not want to be with someone who was unfaithful. I'm devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur. l was blindsided by her post and always wanted the best for her. As a husband, a son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women."

The allegations against Chris Hardwick saw the swift removal of his name from the Nerdist website as well as some writers quitting the site hours after Chloe Dykstra's essay went live. Social media lit up, and as usual, there were many disagreements. For some, Hardwick has always been known to be not the greatest person and some even claim that they've known about the abuse for years. For others, they believe that Hardwick and Dykstra were in a troubled relationship and she's out to exact her revenge.

There's no doubt that this is a messy situation for Chris Hardwick and Chloe Dykstra. But it looks like the damage has already been done for Hardwick who is seeing many disassociate from him, including an empire that he started. AMC has also halted the June 17th Season 2 debut of Talking With Chris Hardwick, either permanently or at least until a full investigation into the actress' claims is conducted.
