Kristen Bell has signed on to star in Warner Bros.' comedy remake CHiPs, along side her husband Dax Shepard, according to a new report at The Wrap. No details were given regarding her role, but she joins a cast that also includes Michael Pena, Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar and Vincent D'Onofrio, who is playing the villain. No plot details have been revealed yet, but earlier this summer, Michael Pena revealed to us exclusively that the script has a different sense of humor than the original TV show.

"Yeah, I mean, we're doing our own thing. They are cops on motorcycles, and Dax Shepard wrote the script. The humor in it is way different. It's funny because, when you read it, it's funny, but when you say it, it's funnier. Knock on wood, we're rehearsing all the time, and we just want to get that as right as possible, and have it be a very enjoyable ride, with the action and everything. I have high hopes for it, and it's a big opportunity for me.

Dax Shepard also wrote the script and will direct, while playing Jon Baker, alongside Michael Pena as Frank "Ponch" Poncherello, roles originated by Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada. We reported in May that this remake will center on an exotic car theft ring, lead by Vincent D'Onofrio's character, who used to be a cop himself. No details have been given for Adam Brody and Rosa Salazar's roles at this time.

Dax Shepard is also producing through his Primate Pictures company alongside Andrew Panay. Rick Rosner, who created the NBC series that ran from 1977-1983, will serve as executive producer. It isn't known when production may get under way, or where shooting will take place. Warner Bros. hasn't issued a release date for this upcoming remake quite yet, but we'll keep you posted as soon as more updates are released.

Kristen Bell recently lent her voice to the animated short film Frozen Fever, where she reprised her voice role as Anna from the 2013 animated blockbuster Frozen. She also recently starred in Unity, alongside Casey Affleck, Dianna Agron and Malin Akerman. She recently wrapped production on Michelle Darnell, which hits theaters next April and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kathy Bates and Peter Dinklage.
