Netflix has finally released the first full trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, giving viewers some more insight into the origin story of Sabrina on the small screen. The first teaser dealt with more of the horror elements, while the new trailer has a little bit of everything, including a lot of humor to offset some truly dark imagery. That darkness does a good job at adapting the source material and bringing it to life.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was originally going to be a part of the CW's programming as a direct offshoot from Riverdale. However, it was later revealed that Netflix had picked up the series, which allows it to have a darker edge with some humor that wouldn't be appropriate on network TV. The series is inspired by "slow-burn horror" films like The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, and other satanic horror movies from the 1960s and 1970s, which is evident in the latest trailer.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but as a dark coming-of-age story that has elements of horror, the occult and witchcraft. This adaptation finds Sabrina coming to grips with her dual nature, half-witch and half-mortal, while standing against the evil forces that threaten her for her decision not to fully go all witch. These threats also extend to her family and regular world of humans.

Since moving to Netflix, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina does not look like it will have a direct connection to Riverdale. As of January of this year, CW president Mark Pedowitz stated that the two shows were not connected, but that doesn't mean that there couldn't be a crossover at some point. Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater hopes to have a crossover in the near future. So, some of the Sabrina characters could end up in Riverdale, especially since Greendale has already been mentioned in the series. Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, penned the script for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger.

Archie Comics fans have been waiting quite a while to see the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on TV, so it will be interesting to see the reaction after the show premieres. There's always pressure when a project is adapted from a beloved comic book, so the new show definitely has an uphill battle. With that being said, the trailer and teaser all look like they tap into the darkness of the source material pretty well. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot, and Gavin Leatherwood. The series premieres exclusively October 26th on Netflix. The show will also be making a big splash at NYCC this weekend.
