It's been a long wait, but we now finally know when exactly season 3 of the Castlevania animated series will be premiering on Netflix. Promising that this time there's "more mystery, murder, mayhem, and vampires than ever," Netflix has confirmed that season 3 will begin streaming on the service starting on March 5. Additionally, a new poster for the third season of Castlevania has also been unveiled featuring artwork of many of the characters from the animated series. You can check it out in the reveal tweet below from NX on Twitter.

The Castlevania series is written by Warren Ellis and was brought to Netflix by Adi Shankar in 2017. It follows monster hunter Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage) as he battles the undead forces of the vampire Count Dracula (Graham McTavish) with the help of magician Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynoso) and Dracula's son Alucard (James Callis). Using heavy inspiration from the video game series for its story elements, the show's artwork is also reminiscent of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, one of the most popular installments of the franchise.

Originally intended to be a movie, the first season of Castlevania ends just as quickly as it begins, consisting of just four 30-minute episodes. Once it began streaming on Netflix, it quickly became apparent to the streamer that they had a new hit on their hands, as critics and subscribers were pretty impressed with the video game adaptation. On the same day of its premiere, Castlevania was renewed for a second season, which wound up premiering on Netflix in October 2018. Fortunately, the length of the season was doubled, giving us eight half-hour episodes for the show's sophomore season.

By all accounts, Castlevania season 2 ended up even better than the first. Compared to season 1's 80% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, season 2 was a flawless hit with critics, earning a perfect 100% Fresh score. Of course, Netflix noticed the positive reception, officially renewing Castlevania for a third season just days after the premiere of season 2. And Castlevania collectibles were also announced. The show's third season will also be the longest yet for the Netflix Original, as the streamer has bumped up the episode count again to make season 3 consist of ten episodes. As the wait between the seasons has been well over a year, it helps to know that the series will be returning with many new episodes in just one month from now. Hopefully the Castlevania theme song won't change.

Season 3 of Castlevania begins streaming on Netflix on March 5. In the meantime, the first two seasons can currently be viewed on the streaming service, so those yet to catch up on the series can do so this month ahead of Castlevania's return in early March. Since the wait since season 2 has also been a while, it may also not be a bad idea to revisit the first two seasons as well for those who have seen them. After all, both seasons are painfully short and easy to quickly binge. This news comes to us from NX on Twitter.
