Blue's Clues & You is bringing in some familiar faces, as former hosts Steve and Joe are both returning to the rebooted series. Portrayed by Steve Burns and Donovan Patton, Steve and Joe are revealed to be cousins of new host Josh Dela Cruz in a new trailer for the series. To help solve a new mystery with his little dog Blue, Josh calls Steve and Joe with his Handy Dandy Notebook, which now doubles as a smartphone. For anyone who remembers watching Blue's Clues when they were younger - or for the parents raising little ones who had - it's an amazing reunion to see, and you can watch it for yourself below.

Of course, Blue's Clues & You also brings back original voice actress Traci Page Johnson as the voice of the titular blue dog. Johnson previously voiced Blue in the original Blue's Clues and its spin-off Blue's Room. All of the original characters will be coming back as well, including Mailbox, Sidetable Drawer, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Paprika, Cinnamon, Shovel, Pail, Tickety Tock, Slippery Soap, the Felt Friends, and Blue's best friend Magenta. Featuring a similar art style as the shows before it, Blue's Clues & You! will this time be animated digitally with a live-action host living in a cartoon world.

The original Blue's Clues first began airing all the way back in 1996. As an educational children's program, the series lets young viewers search for pawprints left behind as clues to see what the dog Blue was up to with the help of host Steve Burns. While its unique art style and catchy tunes did a lot to make the series popular, it has also been acclaimed for its educational value for budding learners as well. As one of the network's most popular programs, Blue's Clues pulled in nine Emmy Award nominations during its run in addition to awards for excellence in children's programming, including a Peabody Award in 2001.

After appearing on the series since its premiere in 1996, Steve Burns decided to leave Blue's Clues in 2002 to pursue other creative endeavors. The actor had also joked about not wanting to go bald on a children's show, which could also explain why he's wearing a hat in the Blues Clues & You! reunion clip. Donovan Patton would step in as Steve's cousin Joe to host the remainder of the series, and although Steve's presence was missed, Joe made a solid replacement. He would also host the spin-off Blue's Room following the end of Blue's Clues, which ran for two seasons on Nick Jr.

Blue's Clues & You! will premiere on Nick Jr. in November. It was previously reported the network had ordered 20 episodes, and its viewership numbers will likely determine if the reboot will have a run similar to the original series. Dela Cruz seems to be a good fit as the new host of the series for the new generation, but it certainly doesn't hurt to bring back in Burns and Patton for special appearances as well.
