Back in May 2013, Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to four of its beloved comic book properties, Daredevil, The Punisher, Ghost Rider and Blade, after these titles held by various different studios lapsed. Just a few months later, Marvel announced that Daredevil would one of four new TV shows debuting on Netflix, followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. During this current season of Daredevil, the show introduced The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, who is getting his own Netflix spinoff as well. But we haven't heard much about the studio's plans for Ghost Rider and Blade. Today we have a new report that claims Marvel and Netflix are in fact developing TV shows for Ghost Rider and Blade, along with another Marvel character, Moon Knight.

This new report from Movie Creed Live doesn't offer any details about any of these series, or how far along in development they may or may not be. We don't know for sure if the streaming service has brought on writers to develop these potential shows, or if they are simply in the very early stages of development. This report certainly isn't the first time we've heard rumors about these characters coming to life on the small screen.

Back in June, a report surfaced that claimed Netflix is developing a Punisher series, which was confirmed just last month, along with shows featuring Ghost Rider, Blade and The Hulk, who is played by Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Naturally, that report was never confirmed, but then in October, another rumor surfaced that Netflix is also developing a Moon Knight series. That report hinted that Marvel could introduce Moon Knight in one of their current shows, much like how they introduced The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2, before moving on to his own series.

Both Blade and Ghost Rider have been seen before on the big screen, with Wesley Snipes playing the title character in the Blade trilogy from New Line Cinema, and Nicolas Cage portraying the Ghost Rider in two movies from 20th Century Fox. There had been rumors that new movies would be developed for both of these characters, but those reports were never confirmed. If Moon Knight does happen as a TV series, it will be the first time this character has been portrayed in live action, although he has appeared in video games and animated shows.

Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, who made his Marvel comics debut in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. He went on to appear in a number of different comics before his own stand alone series was released in 1980. Born Marc Spector, Moon Knight was given superhuman strength, endurance, and reflexes after he was visited by Egyptian god Khonshu. However, his powers are either enhanced or weakened depending on the phases of the moon. He also used a number of gadgets to fight crime, which lead to the character being compared to DC's Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on these potential Netflix shows that could be streaming soon.
