Starz held their TCA Winter Tour panel today, where they revealed a new trailer for Season 2 of Black Sails, debuting January 24. This season goes back in time 15 years, to explain the origins of Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his rage. The first season was set 20 years before Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. During the panel, Toby Stephens himself revealed that this season will give fans more insight into Captain Flint.

"(This season will) "explain how he became the pirate he now is. (Fans will) get to know a lot more about him and what is motivating him to do these quite extreme things. Perhaps he's a lot more complicated than you think at the end of Season 1."

Executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg added that the show will be "bigger, louder, deeper" than the first season, exploring new locales including London. He also teased an epic season finale, promising that it won't be anything like the Season 1 finale. Season 1 premiered last year with 2.6 million viewers, the largest premiere audience in Starz history. Take a look at the latest footage below, before the Season 2 Premiere airs January 24 on Starz, and you can also check out the first trailer that debuted in October.
